Georgia's Esther Clark is NewCRNC Treasurer Candidate

The NewCRNC Campaign announced today that Georgia's Ester Clark will replace Mike Miltenberger as their candidate for CRNC Treasurer. Clark is in her first term as CR State Chairman in Georgia.

Miltenberger dropped out earlier this week after his home state of Massachusetts rescinded its endorsement of Charlie Smith and removed Miltenberger from its list of delegates to the National Convention.

Florida Endorses Cottrell

The Florida College Republicans today endorsed Kristy Cottrell of the NewCRNC campaign for Southern Caucus Chairman.

David Stevens, the Federation's Chairman, stated, "On behalf of the Executive Board of the Florida Federation of College Republicans, let me be the first to commend Kristy for her exemplary leadership at the chapter, state, and national levels of College Republicans. No one is more worthy or qualified for the post."

Cottrell is in her first term as Chairman of the Alabama College Republicans.

Burris Responds to Mississippi Matter

Today, candidate for CRNC Southern Caucus Chairman John Burris responded to what has become to be known as "The Mississippi Matter." Burris only sent his email to the Southern Caucus, but CRNC World News has obtained a copy of it.

Burris stated, "While there are many lessons to be learned from the events that unfolded in Mississippi, I believe one key lesson that was clear throughout, and that is the importance of having an independent representative for the Southern Caucus. Jessica continues to lead her state federation because there were people who were willing to help."

Burris also shyed away from the national commotion that has taken place as of late. Burris stated, "In closing, I would like to say that this release was only sent the states of the Southern Caucus. I believe the issues addressed here are best suited for that forum. Other issues on the national scene seem to cloud the events that truly matter here."

Earlier this week, MS CR Chairman Jessica Westbrook had called on the NewCRNC Campaign team to quit tampering with her delegates. Former NewCRNC Campaign Manager Ethan Eilon responded that "Neither Kristy Cottrell nor any member of the New CRNC team contacted any Mississippi College Republican other than yourself in regard to the Southern Caucus elections."

However, Westbrook later produced emails from inside Mississippi where one delegate claimed to have been contacted by "some girl" regarding the Southern Caucus elections. Kristy Cottrell has since denied that she personally had any involvement in the alleged tampering.

Westbrook also produced an instant message conversation with Nick Micarelli, NewCRNC candidate for National Co-Chairman, in which Micarelli attempted to coax Westbrook into voting for Cottrell. After Westbrook refused, Micarelli stated, "to hell with you."

After Westbrook's first email, former MS CR Chairman Natalie Cole attempted to have Westbrook impeached, an attempt that failed. Later, Cole asserted that she was the true State Chairman in MS and ordered a state convention be called for August. Cole has since backed off of this assertion. Westbrook later noted that Cole was a NewCRNC supporter and questioned whether this was an attempt to cause confusion as to who truly represented Mississippi at the National Convention.

Note that Burris' email was not posted on TruthCaucus.com

Siler Responds to Miltenberger's Charges

In an email released earlier today, Ohio CR Chairman Brian Siler responded to NE Caucus Chairman and former NewCRNC candidate for National Treasurer Mike Miltenberger.

Miltenberger had acused Ohio's Brian Siler of deceitful campaign tactics and and money laundering. In his statement, Miltenberger said, "Brian has claimed, on video, to have raised over $200,000 dollars for Ohio CRs, yet they have never registered with the FEC or the Ohio Secretary of State as a group involved in elections. Where did he launder the money if he truly had it? No one knows, and Brian refuses to answer."

In today's response, Siler asserted that the OFCR had indeed raised the money in question. He claimed the reason for not filing was because the OFCR's finances were a part of the Ohio Republican Party's finances. Siler stated, "We did not file with the Ohio Secretary of State or the Federal Election Commission because all of our finances and filing go through the Ohio Republican Party. To assert that I laundered money is ridiculous and completely out of line."

Miltenberger also acused John Plecnik of being the intellect behind Siler's supposed "shadow campaign of deceit." Plecnik is a former North Carolina College Republican who now works in New York as an attorney.

In response, Siler denied this claim, stating, "I have never met, spoken to, e-mailed, mailed, telegraphed, pony expressed or otherwise communicated in any way with John Plecnik in my entire life."

Miltenberger also acused former Missourri State Chairman Taylor Burks of making "slanderous phone calls into numerous statefederations".

Siler responded by stating, "The Missouri Federation of College Republicans elected him unanimously in April because of his strong leadership in carrying his federation forward after the past chairman resigned. Taylor was a fine chairman and should not have been impeached. I am sure that Taylor will tell his story in full."

This comes on the heels of accusations earlier this week that the NewCRNC campaign team engaged in a plot to force Mississippi College Republican State Chairman Jessica Westbrook to vote for Kristy Cottrell, NewCRNC candidate for Southern Caucus Chairman. When Westbrook refused, the NewCRNC allegedly organized a failed impeachment attempt to remove her from office.

New York Out, Indiana In

Today, The New York College Republican Executive Board rescinded its endorsement of the NewCRNC team, including candidate for Chairman Charlie Smith.

Citing "recent developments," the NYCRs stated, "it has become clear that the so-called “New CRNC” is nothing more than a repositioning of the deck chairs of the current administration and their continuous corrupt practices."

In response, the NewCRNC released the endorsement of the Indiana College Republicans.

Indiana stated, "We believe that Charlie Smith’s bold vision and innovative ideas will help make the CRNC stronger than ever before. Charlie will be a great chairman of the CRNC and will represent our organization with dignity and class. Indiana also believes that Justin Smith will make an excellent Regional Vice-Chair for the Midwest. Justin has great experience with national politics, and his knowledge of the national amendments will help better the CRNC organization."

Charlie Smith Calls for Gourley's Resignation (Thursday, June 28, 2007)

Shortly after the CRNC Executive Board announced it was investigating alleged Christmas bonuses for Chairman Paul Gourley and former Executive Director Amanda Hydro, NewCRNC candidate for chairman Charlie Smith called for Gourley's resignation.

In a statement, Smith said, "I am appalled to learn that Paul Gourley and Amanda Hydro abused the trust placed in them by College Republicans around America by taking enormous bonuses without the approval or even knowledge of the other national officers and in direct conflict with the budget passed by the National Board. I believe that was unethical, inappropriate and wrong. Paul’s actions are a disgrace to his office, especially since he hasn’t been there for the last six months. I urge him to take the honorable course and resign, so that we can spare this organization the calls for impeachment."

SHOCKER -- CRNC Executive Board Investigating Chairman Gourley

The acusations of criminal activity continue today. In a shocking announcement, the members of the CRNC Executive Board (except the Chairman) today accused CRNC Chairman Paul Gourley of awarding himself and former CRNC Executive Director Amanda Hydro Christmas bonuses of 14,408.32 each.

The Executive Board stated, "This expenditure was neither outlined in the approved budget for salaries, nor was it approved by the National Officers." The CRNC Constitution requires that expenditures over $5,000 and not in the yearly budget be approved by the CRNC Executive Board.

Rumors had circulated for weeks that former CRNC Executive Director and NewCRNC Campaign Manager had uncovered something drastic at the CRNC headquarters. However, he had refused to comment on the matter.

One CRNC observer noted, "This undoubtedly helps the NewCRNC Campaign shift the focus away from the Mississippi matter. One has to wonder if NewCRNC new about this and was sitting on it until the right time."

Dear Members of the National Board,

According to our current CRNC staff, led by Ethan Eilon, it has come to our attention on the balance sheets that Amanda Hydro gave both herself and Paul Gourley Christmas bonuses valuing $14,408.32 each. This expenditure was neither outlined in the approved budget for salaries, nor was it approved by the National Officers.

We are disappointed that this decision was made without our knowledge. We will continue to look into this matter, particularly Hydro’s term, and we do not condone these actions.
In an effort to be completely transparent about the CRNC’s finances, we will continue to update you on our findings.

SHOCKER -- Miltenberger Drops Out of CRNC Treasurer Race -- Acuses Ohio's Brian Siler of Money Laundering

In an email today, Former Massachusetts CR State Chairman and current Chairman of the CRNC's Northeast Caucus Mike Miltenberger dropped out of the race for Treasurer of the CRNC. Miltenberger had been a candidate on the New CRNC Campaign team.

Miltenberger also accused Ohio's Brian Siler of deceitful campaign tactics and and money laundering. Miltenberger stated, "Brian has claimed, on video, to have raised over $200,000 dollars for Ohio CRs, yet they have never registered with the FEC or the Ohio Secretary of State as a group involved in elections. Where did he launder the money if he truly had it? No one knows, and Brian refuses to answer."

Miltenberger also acused John Plecnik of being the intellect behind Siler's supposed "shadow campaign of deceit." Plecnik is a former North Carolina College Republican who now works in New York as an attorney.

This comes a surprise to many insiders. One longtime observer of CRNC politics stated, on condition of anonymity, "Plecnik and Siler don't get along. They never have."

Finally, Miltenberger acused former Missourri State Chairman Taylor Burks of making "slanderous phone calls into numerous statefederations". Readers will remember that Burks was impeached as Missourri State Chairman. Details of Burks' impeachment are sketchy, but Miltenberge claimed it was by "three-fourths of the stateboard, and a unanimous executive board."

*************************************

Friends and Fellow College Republicans,

This is one of the hardest letters I've written in my tenure in politics, and as such I hope you will excuse my long windedness and bear with me through theduration; this will most likely be the final statement I make to this organization. As many of you know, I have spent the past several months campaigning for the position of Treasurer alongside the New CRNC team. Today,my candidacy comes to an abrupt end. I am withdrawing my name. In politics,we talk a lot about message, about "spin." Today, I am not interested in either; today, I have strength left only for the truth.

I am resigning because in these past weeks a former member of the National Board and elements lurking alongside him have been making calls, hindering the process of reform, attacking me personally and obscuring the truth. As disheartening as that has been, it is only furthered by the fact that they poisoned the ears of people I once called friends and turned them against me. I was informed that the new Massachusetts state chair, influenced personally by Brian Siler, was to remove me as a delegate and from there to further attack me in ways still unclear. I will not run without the support of my state, and I will not allow this negativity to burden those who truly do have the best interests for the future of our organization and our party in their hearts, the people with whichI have felt privileged and proud to have worked.

To my team, and all of our many supporters, I want to offer my apologies and mygratitude. I wish I could be alongside you as you begin what I know will bethe greatest revolution our organization has undergone, but know that I will always support the cause of reform and the principles which our campaign hasfought for since its inception.

With my withdrawal I feel it my duty to pay some outstanding debts. This organization has given me more than I can put into words, and I will never fully repay those gifts. However, my most important obligation, I will fulfill: the debt of untold truths.

We have amongst us people of malice, people of hate, people of vitriol and spiteunlike any I have ever known. Our campaign has doggedly avoided engaging them. Despite the unfounded rumor and the whisper of loathing echo chambers, we have done all within our power to run a positive, idea driven campaign. I am no longer on the campaign trail, and I will not avoid engagement another moment.

Brian Siler is the most apt example of what is wrong with this organization. He lurks in the shadows, whispering in the ears of new state leadership making promises, spitting breathy hatred with a determination fueled by equal parts greed and corruption.

Here are the questions unanswered by Brian Siler, so the next time he calls your state you can find out for yourself what kind of a leader he truly is.

Brian has claimed, on video, to have raised over $200,000 dollars for Ohio CRs, yet they have never registered with the FEC or the Ohio Secretary of State as a group involved in elections. Where did he launder the money if he truly had it? No one knows, and Brian refuses to answer.

Brian brags about $40,000 in block grants he awarded to chapters throughout Ohio, yet he has never been able to provide corroborating tax documentation(there is none online) or present chapter chairmen who will testify to the amounts received. What happened to the block grant money? The only blockgrants that have been independently verified were two grants of between $1,000and $3,000 dollars given to chapters who were planning to oppose his hand-picked successor for State Chairman and himself for National Committeeman at their most recent state convention.

Brian has additionally lauded himself as the most effective chairman in the nation. What he hasn't been forthcoming about is that he in fact took a salary for himself to serve as state chair. While I and my fellow state chairmen worked diligently to elect Republicans with donated time and money out of our own pockets, Brian Siler paid himself a salary.

Rather then sit in the shadows Brian Siler should have exercised what he professes by trying to be a constructive for change. Not once has he called me or anyone else with a tone of cooperation toward achieving a common goal. Hisc alls have been rumor, gossip and worse.

The despicable actions of Brian Siler, however, do not go unaided. Among his most unsavory of counterparts is a name that many of you do not know: John Plecnik. John Plecnik is a lawyer at a New York law firm, and has no business still being involved in College Republicans. One would imagine that he has better things to do with his time, but his actions indicate otherwise. He would, without exaggeration, prefer to tear down the CRNC entirely rather than watch someone he cannot manipulate administer it. He has failed in every one of his myriad attempts to capture power within the College Republicans, and with the good sense of the current members I hope that he will again be rebuffed. While his is a voice you do not hear, he is undeniably the intellect behind Brian Siler's shadow campaign of deceit.

One hanger on I feel compelled to mention is Taylor Burkes, the Former State Chairman of Missouri who performed so poorly that three-fourths of the state board, and a unanimous executive board voted to remove him from office well before his term was completed. I have never seen anyone get so much mileage from accomplishing so very little. Taylor failed his state, he failed his party and since being removed has proven why he was so utterly useless to the College Republicans of Missouri. He has yet to provide a single positive statement or idea about anything, yet he finds time to make slanderous phone calls into numerous state federations. He is a source of unabashed negativity and is not worthy of national recognition.

To watch this tragic comedy unfold has been saddening -- but telling -- of what our organization should not be, but what people like these have made it into. They allege corruption while not offering anything substantial or constructive to correct it. They spend more time trying to score political points then moving the organization forward. Every state within their hold must be controlled within the grip of an iron fist, because without such constraints they know that their support will disappear. They have a core group ofloyalists who have become beholden to them through cronyism and shared hatred. This group has not expanded significantly since the onset of their campaign against a better future for College Republicans. Their actions indicate that they are a cabal empty of ideas, dead set on power, and they will do anythingto achieve their self-serving ends.

I hope that this warning will find thoughtful ears. Regardless of how frustrating this entire experience has proven to be for me, were our organization to succumb to individuals such as these, were the principles of actual reform and transparency twisted so maniacally as to serve this vicious swarm which infests the darkest corners of our organization, then in that moment I, and all of the people who do care about this organization and do believe in something better, have failed. If we stand silent, and allow this on our watch, then all our efforts for a better organization will have been invain.

I have worked a long time to see positive change in this organization, and nowfinally that change is within sight. The influence of old leadership is waning, reforms have been proposed that dramatically eliminate the framework of corruption. Yet at every turn they have opposed progress because of petty desires for control and personal gain. We must not allow them to divide us, we are at the occasion of change but we must now have the courage to reach forward and grab hold of it.

I wish to thank you for your time, your patience, and your friendships. I put my trust in every one of you, because in the end I believe you will all find what is right.

Best Regards,
Michael R. Miltenberger

Massachusetts Rescinds NewCRNC Endorsement (Thursday, June 28, 2007)

In a press release, the entire Executive Board of the MA College Republicans rescinded its endorsement of Charlie Smith for Chairman.

The release cited "significant issues and inappropriate tactics" which caused this action. One presumes that Massachusetts is referring to the accusations of delegate tampering and chairman intimidation in Mississippi.

Massachusetts' action comes even though former MA CR State Chairman Mike Miltenberger is a candidate for National Treasurer on the New CRNC team.

*******************************

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: June 28, 2007
To: College Republican National Board Members

In light of recent events and in the interest of preserving the political and moral integrity of the Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans, the Executive Board of the MACR hereby unanimously rescinds its April 14 endorsement of Charlie Smith of Colorado for Chairman of the College Republican National Committee.

Several significant issues and inappropriate tactics have been brought to the attention of the National Board only recently which in a fully respectable campaign would not have been hidden or suppressed.

Perhaps most surprising are Ethan Eilon’s simultaneous roles as Executive Director of the CRNC and Campaign Manager of the New CRNC. This open expression of support by the CRNC hints not only at a general lack of respect for the election process described in the College Republican Constitution, but also makes inauthentic any calls from any member of the New CRNC team for honesty, accountability, transparency, and distinction from the current administration.

Rather than constraining our delegates before the convention, we believe that they should vote on their own instinct and not be bound to any particular candidate, as they alone most appropriately represent College Republicans in Massachusetts.

We strongly urge other state federations to take similar measures to respect the intelligence and independence of their delegates.

In that spirit, former MACR Chairman Michael Miltenberger, also a candidate for CRNC treasurer, will be removed from the Massachusetts delegation to the convention due to a potential conflict of interest. We sincerely thank him for his service to the MACR over the past two years and wish him well.

Thank you for your time and understanding. We reiterate our call for honest and respectable campaigns and elections and look forward to meeting many of you at the convention in July!

Signed,

Brian Gwozdz, Chairman Jacob Ventura, Executive Director

Trevor Lair, Executive Vice Chairman
Samantha Lewis, Secretary
Stephen Regan, Treasurer
Katherine Scott, Central Vice Chair

Cottrell Responds (Wednesday, June 27, 2007)

Today, Kristy Cottrell responded to the recent accusations of delegate tampering in Mississippi. While Cottrell denied personal involvement in the matter, she did not deny NewCRNC involvement, feuling further speculation that the NewCRNC was up to no good in Mississippi on her behalf.

Cottrell also called upon all acts of intimidation to stop immediately.

The full text of Cottrell's email follows.

********************************

I will begin by saying that I hope today can be a turning point in the election for officers of the CRNC. It is imperative that the negative attacks that have defined the last few days stop immediately.

While there are a number of things that are unclear about the last few days, I would like to tell two things that I know to be true.

1) I have not at any time been in contact with any Mississippi College Republican other than Jessica Westbrook.

2) Any threats made by anyone to Ms. Westbrook are categorically out of line and should stop immediately.

While the internal affairs of the Mississippi College Republicans should primarily be left to College Republicans in that state, I respectfully ask that any efforts to impeach Ms. Westbrook be abandoned if they are in any way related to the race for Southern Caucus Vice Chairman.

The speculation and accusations need to stop. I encourage my opponent, John Burris, to join with me in returning to a civil discussion of the issues, so that delegates in the Southern Region can make the best decision at our national convention.

Thank you

Kristy Cottrell

Shocker -- Westbrook Responds -- Eilon, Micarelli, Cole Implicated (Tuesday, June 26, 2007)

All,

The actions of the last few days have left me sick to my stomach. What has gone on in Mississippi over the last few days is enough to make any good and decent state chairman sick as well. This month I have been threatened by national candidates, threatened with impeachment, publicly attacked by New CRNC staff, publicly attacked by the CRNC Executive Director and had our state's former chairman (an ardent Charlie Smith supporter) publicly deride me and then attempt to declare herself to be the current chair. I refuse to tolerate any more of this nonsense.

I realize that you, the reader, have been bombarded with emails over the last several days. In an effort to help you make sense of this story, I thought it best to give you a timeline of these events, and let you decide for yourself what you think of this travesty. That timeline is attached to this email. I encourage you to read it as it lays out, in detail, the actions of the New CRNC over the last few days.

While most of the issues are addressed in the timeline, there are a few that are so vitally important that I feel they must be addressed up front.

Ethan Eilon
I would like to reiterate, contrary to Ethan Eilon's scathing email yesterday, my assertions that the New CRNC was in contact with our delegates, particularly Richard Walters. Richard himself stated in an email to me (see attached) that "some girl has already contacted me and asked for my support." This is directly contrary to Ethan's assertion that no "member of the New CRNC team contacted any Mississippi College Republican" other than me.

Who else but the New CRNC would be contacting our delegates and asking for their support? The New CRNC and Natalie Cole would have you believe that it was indeed Natalie whom Richard described as "some girl." This is the same Natalie Cole who was the State Chairman of the MFCR this past year and who knows Richard very well. Thus, it is ridiculous to believe that Natalie was the only person to contact Richard and that she was the "some girl" who contacted him and asked for his support.

Ethan is correct in stating that I gave HIM permission to speak with people in Mississippi. However, I also reminded him not to overstep boundaries of what was permissible. Having the campaign contact delegates and encourage them to vote against the MFCR's endorsement is way over that boundary.

I am also very disturbed by the fact that Ethan Eilon was serving as the New CRNC Campaign Manager while at the same time serving as CRNC Executive Director. In Ethan's email he stated that "'clear coordination that should exist' does not exist" referencing coordination between the CRNC and the New CRNC Campaign. However, just today TruthCaucus.com reported that Ethan "has been working as a CRNC executive director in Washington, D.C." Further, in Ethan's email he stated "the national office sent me his name (referring to Richard Walters) and I let him know he could call me with questions." This coordination between the CRNC office and the New CRNC campaign is quite disturbing. Why was the CRNC Executive Director managing Charlie's campaign? Why were we as National Board members not informed of this? This is very questionable for a campaign that prides itself on bringing transparency to the CRNC,

"To Hell with you"
I have been the subject of repeated threats over the last few days and weeks from the NewCRNC team. In an instant message conversation with Nick Micarrelli (candidate for CRNC co-chair and member of the NewCRNC ticket) several weeks ago (that conversation is attached to this email), Nick stated that if I endorsed John I would "make enemies", "get in the bad graces", be "a less efficient chairman", and that my vote would "be remembered." When I became defensive and asked Nick if I would be punished for voting for John, he stated, "don't make a mistake here." He (Nick) then tried to assure me that he was only looking out for my best interest. He told me that if I didn't believe that then "to hell with" me.

In a meeting Sunday night with Natalie and other MFCR Executive Board members, more threats were sent my way. Natalie, who was in constant contact throughout the meeting with the New CRNC team, told me that there would be impeachment proceedings brought against me if I didn't step down, that the New CRNC would not send field reps our way, and that they would issue a press release condemning me and my state federation if I did not retract my earlier statements. Of course I refused, and as of yesterday, Ethan sent a scathing email my way (and yours). As of today Natalie has attempted to bring impeachment proceedings against me, and failed. It appears as if the New CRNC is attempting to make good on its threats

Natalie Cole thinks she's chairman
After failing to have me impeached, Charlie Smith supporter and former MFCR Chairman Natalie Cole sent out an email today claiming that she is, in fact, still the State Chairman of the MFCR, and calling for a new convention on August 10 th. Believing herself to be State Chairman, she also called for a MFCR Convention to elect new officers. This is laughable, since yesterday she identified herself as the "Immediate Past Chairman", as well as addressing me as the current Chairman, in an email she sent to you. If I am not the state chairman, why go to the trouble yesterday to attempt to have me impeached?

I sense a plot here to have Mississippi's votes tied up in the CRNC Credentials Committee while it fights out who is the state chairman of the MFCR. If neither I nor my delegates could vote, that would solve the whole problem for the New CRNC. This is just more of the same from two years ago.

J. Keith Gates
I would like to thank Southern Caucus Chairman Keith Gates for his help in dealing with this situation. His involvement in this was at my request. Only after I contacted Keith did he place any calls inquiring into this situation. Unlike the New CRNC, Keith didn't threaten College Republicans. He simply called Natalie to get her take on this issue and tried to mediate a solution that would be beneficial to all parties involved.

Natalie seemingly implied that Keith was attempting to circumvent the will of the MFCR. Nothing could be farther from the truth, since he was acting at the request of the MFCR Chairman! Further, Natalie should be ashamed for attempting to call out Keith while she herself is an ardent New CRNC supporter and has been in constant contact with the New CRNC campaign, as evidenced by the fact that she attempted to get me to retract my earlier statements or face a press release from the New CRNC. I am glad that we in the South have a Caucus Chairman who will stand up for the state chairmen in his caucus and not allow them to be railroaded by outside individuals.

John Burris
Let me make this abundantly clear: I was not working "in coordination with the (John) Burris campaign" to dupe our board into voting for John without informing them of Kristy Cottrell's candidacy. Natalie asserted yesterday that "no one on the board was aware of Kristy Cottrell's candidacy." The facts show that whenever I sent an email to our Board stating my intention to endorse John Burris, MFCR Board Member and State Secretary Richard Walters informed me that "some girl has already contacted me and asked for my support."

John Burris is an honorable man. These events prove now, more than ever, why we need an independent, honorable voice on the CRNC Executive Board. I am proud to continue my support for John.

Conclusion
In closing, I wish to thank all of the state chairmen around the nation who have contacted me expressing their support for me, and their disdain for the New CRNC's tactics.

We in Mississippi have elections this fall for Governor as well as the state Legislature. This is our task: to ensure Republicans control our state. Our task is not to engage in meaningless College Republican politicks. College Republicans in Mississippi, quite frankly, could care less about who becomes the CRNC National Chairman. These out-of-state politicks have weakened our federation, in a year when it is needed most. Thus, I believe that no more of my time should be spent dealing with such petty matters. College Republicans in Mississippi elected me to help lead their party to victory in Mississippi, not worry about which of the children becomes CRNC National Chairman.

After the events of two years ago, I thought that our organization was beyond this type of dirty play. I thought that we were building a 'new CRNC,' based upon a mutual respect and friendship. Rather than beginning a new CRNC, it seems as though we are beginning a new chapter in the same ole book

Thank you,

Jessica Westbrook
Chair, Mississippi Federation of College Republicans

Eilon Out -- Ethan Eilon Resigns (Tuesday, June 26, 2007)

Charlie Smith today announced that longtime advisor and friend Ethan Eilon is resigning as campaign manager.

Eilon's resignation comes amidst the MS College Republican Chairman's accusations that the NewCRNC campaign engaged in delegate tampering and chairman intimidation in Mississippi. Smith, however, contends that Eilon's resignation was decided "last week."

As many know, Eilon has been also been serving as Executive Director of the CRNC while working as Charlie's Campaign Manager, leading some to question the ethics of the setup.

The full text of Smith's email follows.

**********************************************

Greetings!

I write today to announce with bittersweet feelings that my close friend and New CRNC campaign manager, Ethan Eilon, is stepping down as campaign manager and moving on to a new challenge where his strengths and skills will be put to great use.

From Ethan's days as the Victory organizational director for Bush-Cheney '04 in Colorado, the Colorado Federation of College Republicans and the New CRNC campaign manager, he has developed a stellar track record of success and earned a reputation as one of the hardest working and brightest College Republicans in the country.

He helped me build the Colorado CRs into one of the premier grassroots organizations in Colorado, as recognized by the numerous campaigns we had the pleasure to work with. During the 2006 election cycle, Ethan was instrumental in achieving the contact of more than 40,000 voters.

With Ethan's help, New CRNC proposed some of the most consequential reforms the CRNC has seen to date. He helped build a national movement to make the CRNC more ethical and efficient, and he has helped prepare our organization for the revolutionary changes that are needed to bring us to the next level.

I believe that Ethan will become one of the great political minds of our generation, and we couldn't have been more fortunate to have him on our team. The fruits of Ethan's hard work will serve as resources to thousands of CRs now and in the future. Ethan is a tremendous political operative, but more importantly, he is also someone who always holds the best interests of our organization at heart.

Since Ethan and I decided last week that he would be moving on, he and I worked together and picked the best possible person to take over as campaign manager. Effective right away, Immediate Past Chairman of the College Republican Federation of Alabama Blake Harris will start as campaign manager for New CRNC.

Blake took a struggling organization in Alabama and turned it into one of the most active, best organized state federations in the country, and before that he was a chief operator in Your CRNC. He's earned a record of results and principled standards we can all learn from.

Of course, I will miss Ethan working with me daily, but I couldn't be more pleased that Blake Harris has accepted the position to move us forward through the election.

Please join me in wishing Ethan well and welcoming Blake Harris!

Thank you,
Charlie Smith

New CRNC's Ethan Eilon responds to Westbrook -- Says comments "reckless and false" (Monday, June 25, 2007)

Jessica-

It is unfortunate that we could not avoid these needless attacks for this campaign's duration. Your comments over the weekend were reckless and false and your political grandstanding is not appreciated. Neither Kristy Cottrell nor any member of the New CRNC team contacted any Mississippi College Republican other than yourself in regard to the Southern Caucus elections. Additionally, Kristy Cottrell has not at any point been in possession of the contact information for your delegates. Therefore, your referenced "clear coordination that should not exist" does not exist.

As you know, Richard Walter of Ole Miss did call me inquiring about National College Republicans, and I provided him with nothing more then the basic facts of the election process and did not mention either of the Southern Caucus candidates; a fact which I am sure he would verify. To refresh your memory, I have included the email in which you authorized precisely that type of communication, so that there can be no further confusion.

I respectfully ask that you retract your recent comments and issue Kristy and the New CRNC team an apology. Short of that, at least do national board members the courtesy of not crowding their inboxes with senseless and untrue attacks.

Thank you.

Ethan Eilon

Immediate Past Chairman of MS College Republicans Responds to Westbrook (Monday, June 25, 2007)

To Whom It May Concern:

In light of the recent controversy surrounding MFCR Chair Jessica Westbrook, we feel that some clarification is in order as to the nature of the situation. Not long ago, Ms. Westbrook blatantly and deliberately lied to the state board of the Mississippi Federation of College Republican pertaining to the candidacy of John Burris. Working in coordination with the Burris campaign, Ms. Westbrook informed the state board that Mr. Burris was unopposed and called for a vote to endorse him. As no one on the board was aware of Kristy Cottrell's candidacy, though she was certainly a candidate at the time, the board did not oppose the endorsement. This was deception in the highest degree by Ms. Westbrook. Moreover, she attempted to circumvent the MFCR board by addressing this issue with parties outside the State of Mississippi.

In this matter, as in many other matters during her tenure, Ms. Westbrook has shown absolute contempt for the manner by which the MFCR performs its duties. Her attempt to disenfranchise fellow College Republican leaders is deplorable.

We would like to thank those who have contacted us regarding this matter, including Mr. Keith Gates and others. Outside opinions are always appreciated. However, we ask that you respect the parties involved by allowing this to be handled by the Mississippi Federation of College Republicans.

Sincerely,

Natalie Cole

Jessica Westbrook says "Actions of NewCRNC not appreciated" (Sunday, June 24, 2007)

It has come to my attention that after I informed the New CRNC of my intent to support John Burris for Southern Caucus Chairman members of the New CRNC have been contacting delegates in my state without my knowledge. They have overstepped their bounds. This is a clear abuse of power by the New CRNC. I would like to know how Kristy Cottrell received contact information for my delegates. That information is known only to the CRNC office. There is a clear coordination that should not exist. Interfering with the matters of my state and issues that have already been voted upon is not a constructive way to build a New CRNC.

I hope this finds all of you well.

Thank you!
Jessica Westbrook
Chair, Mississippi Federation of College Republicans

Introduction

TruthCaucus is biased. This we know is true. For instance, while TC posts each time Charlie Smith utters a word, he failed to post Jessica Westbrook's shocking accusations of the NewCRNC Campaign team. He posted Mike Miltenburger's eloquent email, but failed to post Brian Siler's reply. TruthCaucus is biased.

We at CRNC World News believe that each side of the story should be told. We therefore will post ALL of the news, and not just that which benefits Charlie Smith. We want CRs around the nation to make an informed decision, based upon all the facts. This is our mission.
